Taylor Swift

I drive only occasionally but when I do, I typically have my headphones on. The default listening is whatever podcast I have in my library. But if I listen to music it’s usually Taylor Swift.

Her songs are inspirational, motivational and therapeutic all at once. She’s the only artiste I’ve been a total fan girl of for over 10 years.

Last year, when it seemed like my life was falling apart, the album Reputation was my source of comfort.

“I rose up from the dead. I do it all the time,” Taylor sings in Look What You Made Me Do, reminding me that no matter how big the fall, I’ll rise up again.

After all, look what Taylor did in the aftermath of all the negativity in 2016.

“I don’t think there are that many people who can actually understand what it’s like to have millions of people hate you very loudly,” she said in her recent feature in Vogue.

She took her struggles and made “good art”, which according to Neil Gaiman, is what any artist should do when life gets tough.

My problems are small in comparison but nonetheless there’s still art to be made. Her songs inspire me to keep going, get smarter, get harder. And to keep making good art.
